About

Passion. Experience. Diligence.

Roberto Aguayo

I started out kicking a different ball before I ever kicked a football. My first true love was soccer, my dad was my instructor and the dream was to become a professional soccer player. At 8 years old, that all changed when I kicked my first field goal at Pee Wee football practice. My primary position was Linebacker and Tight End, but I also held the placekicking duties. That carried into my high school career at South Lake High School in Groveland, Florida. I had a very raw swing and that all changed when I attended my first instructional kicking camp after my freshman year.

Fast-forwarding to my sophomore year, I began receiving interest from multiple Division 1 universities. After receiving an offer from Florida State University during my junior year, I decided to see my dream through and become a Seminole. During my career at FSU, I helped my team win the BCS National Championship in 2013. During that same year, I won the Lou Groza Award that goes out to the best kicker in college football. After graduating with my bachelor’s degree, I decided to declare early for the 2016 NFL Draft. I went on to become the first kicker selected in the second round since Mike Nugent in 2005.

During my five-year NFL career, I played alongside many elite athletes, sat in great special teams meeting rooms, and learned what it takes to win in the kicking game. The specialist positions are evolving and I’m excited to pass on the most up-to-date knowledge to help the new era of specialists achieve their dreams.

Growing up as the younger brother, I was blessed to follow the road Roberto paved out for me. Seeing him have success kicking the football during his Pee Wee season, it was a no brainer for me to be the kicker when I reached that age group, given my soccer background.

Fast forward to eighth grade, I was granted the opportunity to play football at Montverde Academy. That’s where my soccer career came to an end and I focused completely on football. Being part of the inaugural football team at the academy was an honor, but the football program was shut down December of my junior year due to insufficient funds. Two months later, I enrolled as a student-athlete at IMG Academy. During that spring, I went 7/7 with a long of 59 at my spring game, which drew interest from schools like Auburn, LSU, and USC. I ended up committing to Florida State in June, and completed a couple credits during that summer so I could graduate early.

I established myself as one of the top ranked kickers in the nation, where I was able to earn a spot to play in the 2015 Under Armour All American Game. I enrolled at FSU in January of 2016, where I went on to start as a true freshman and held the place kicking responsibilities for four years.  I knew filling the kicking role at FSU for my older brother Roberto was going to be a challenge, but I always took it as a blessing having an older sibling who was able to pave the way for me not only in college, but also in life.

After college, I played for a semi-professional organization called the Spring League in 2020 and  2021, where I went 10/11 on fg’s in all games. The adversity and unique situations that I was presented with helped mold me into the man I am today, and I look forward to sharing my unique experiences with the next generation of specialists.
